Project 2 - Exercise 3: Kinetic Typography (10%)
Task Brief
Produce a motion graphic typography on the lyrics of a music then create a
music video lyrics out of it.
Part (lines) that I personally worked on:
Hey, Roman numeral seven, bae, drop it like it's hot
If this world was mine, I'd take your dreams and make 'em multiply
If this world was mine, I'd take your enemies in front of God
Introduce 'em to that light, hit them strictly with that fire
Fah-fah, fah-fah-fah, fah-fah, fah
Hey, Roman numeral seven, bae, drop it like it's hot
If this world was mine, I'd take your dreams and make 'em multiply
If this world was mine, I'd take your enemies in front of God
Introduce 'em to that light, hit them strictly with that fire
Firstly, we formed a group consisting of 8 people. I was appointed as the
group leader. We divided the tasks according to the lines of the lyrics, and
we used Google Sheets to manage and organize the work efficiently. We picked
'
APT' by Rose & Bruno Mars.
During the next class meeting, we realized that the song we had chosen was
difficult to illustrate and lacked depth in its lyrics, making it too short
and limited for animation. Since the song was too limited for animation, we
quickly decided to change it to
‘Luther’ by Kendrick Lamar & SZA.
Then, we proceed on discussing the art direction, color palette, style, and
references. We meet up for 2 hours and we came up with an art board with all
of it. We also discussed about the timeline and due dates to ensure all works
are done before the deadline.

We communicate via WhatsApp and show our own progresses
there.
Then we continue to do our own part before all of it is compiled. I do my part in Adobe After Effects by making the main composition with the Luther original audio (song) and inside of the main composition there are more compositions made per line of the lyrics, so all work are more organized.

Sub-compositions (Compositions per line)
Here is my personal work (haven't been compiled)
Then we meet up for the second time for compiling all of our works and review
for last iterations.

Below is the final compiled version of our work.
Project 2 - Exercise 4: Animation Chart (5%)
Task Brief
Produce a motion graphic chart based on the demonstration and assignment
requirements using either a donut chart, bar chart, or line graph.
Progress Work
In Week 3, I was assigned to produce a donut graph. I first created the
circular form in Illustrator using an ellipse stroke. After importing the
file into After Effects, I animated the stroke using the Trim Paths
function, allowing the graph to visually form through motion over time.
After consulting with my peers in class, I realized that I had done the
task incorrectly, as I was supposed to use the data provided in the
lecturer’s slides.
I then revised the donut chart based on the correct data given.
Below is the final edited version.
Project 2 - Exercise 5 Vector Animation (5%)
Task Brief
Make an animation from the vectors assigned to you
Progress Work
After receiving the vector files, I downloaded and opened them in Adobe
Illustrator. In Illustrator, I made several iterations by organizing the
layers properly to prepare them for animation.
Then imported the Adobe Illustrator vector file into After Effects, where I
created the animation. I experimented with various transform properties such
as opacity, rotation, position, and scale, as well as anchor points, motion
blur, and null objects. I also attempted to rotate the tyres to simulate
movement, but I realized that since the tyres had no visible details such as
screws or markings, the rotation was not noticeable to the viewer.

4. FEEDBACK
Week 4
The lecturer mentioned that some groups used the same style for both graphics and letterforms, resulting in poor color contrast. However, our group managed to handle it well.
5. REFLECTION
During the Kynetic Typography task, our group initially chose a song that we quickly realized was too short and lacked depth, making it challenging to illustrate and animate meaningfully. This taught me the importance of selecting content that is rich in visual and conceptual possibilities. We adapted by choosing “Luther” by Kendrick Lamar & SZA, which offered more lyrical depth and opportunities for creative animation. As the group leader, I organized tasks using Google Sheets, ensuring everyone knew their responsibilities and deadlines. This experience improved my project management and collaboration skills, as I learned to balance creative input with practical constraints.
For the Chart Animation, I focused on clear visual communication, using vector graphics to represent data in an easily understandable way. This reinforced my understanding of information hierarchy and the importance of concise, visually appealing design for effective communication.
Finally, in the Vector Animation task, I explored motion and timing to bring static illustrations to life. This helped me better appreciate the nuances of animation principles and how subtle movements can enhance storytelling.
Overall, Project 2 strengthened both my technical skills in After Effects and Illustrator and my ability to collaborate and adapt creatively under tight deadlines. It highlighted the importance of choosing the right content, organizing tasks efficiently, and thinking critically about how design conveys meaning. This reflection will guide me in future projects, particularly in balancing creativity with practical execution.
