Task 3: Illustrated Typography Poster
This is the first idea, the photograph was what I'm planning to use. But after further consultation with Mr. Hafiz and Mr. Fauzi, I decided to change the concept because of some technical and compostional dificulties.
Due to it, I search for other reference and inspiration. I found out a YouTube channel called 'P A N T E R' is realy helpful on my typographic art style.
On Adobe Illustrator, The poster uses 'Kelsi' font downloaded from the internet. The font doesn't provide uppercase letterforms, so I need to distort some letterforms using pentool, pencil tool, smooth tool (example : i into I). But later on after applying the Adobe Photoshop plug-in, the letter I is better in lowercase as i, the final artwork will be in lowercase i.
Then, the perspective wrap tool was used in Adobe Photoshop to make the perpective of the letterforms allign to the wall's perspective. Alternatively in Adobe illustrator perspective grid can be used.
Color fill layer adjustment is used to make shadow and brightness adjustment for the letterforms. Black color fill with gaussian blur is for shadow, white color fill with 47% opacity is to brighten the letterforms. Alternatively 3D effects and lighting can be used in Adobe Illustrator.
To put the subject on the top layer, a mask of it was made.
Final Artwork and Rationale
Perspective Makes Difference
The design utilizes a photographic element I captured to convey the idea that different perspectives lead to different interpretations and understandings. For instance, a low-angle shot can make the subject appear more imposing or commanding to the viewer. This concept extends to life as well, how we perceive the world shapes our experiences. For examples challenges can be seen as obstacles or as opportunities for personal growth and improvement, all of it will depend on our perspective.
