WORK PROCESS
PROJECT 1B PART 2 EXERCISE 1
1) Open the file on Photoshop, make new layer, adjust the brush.
2) Set the brush color (skin color), apply the brush to the target area (face).
3) Apply blending mode (suggested: soft light / overlay)
4) Refinement: Done by the eraser tool (opacity and flow can also be adjusted).
5) Create all layer (face, hair, eyes, lips, shirt).
6) Create a background fill on a new layer.
7) Add selection on all parts of layer (face, eye, hair, lips, shirt), apply selection to 'Background layer mask. After that invert the layer mask.
8) Invert the layer mask, apply blending mode (as before).
PROJECT 1B PART 2 EXERCISE 2 (1)
1) Use the marque tool (M) to select image and copy, paste it.
2) Make a new layer for the brush (facial color). Use the eye dropper tool (i) to select color (set: 5 by 5 average), use brush tool (b) to paint (set: size 30pt, hardness 100%). Repeat the process for highlight, midtone, and shadow.
3) Do the same thing as before for the hair color (a new layer; hair color). Other parts of the face are also done the same.
4) Select the hair using quick selection tool, click on the layer mask (bottom right). To do refinements, click on the 'select and mask' button on the properties.
5) Click on the mask > solid color > select the color brushed before.
6) Drag and drop the mask into the white square on the color fill layer, (replace color mask > yes). Rename the color fill layer (exp: 'hair')
7) Select the blending mode, choose overlay / soft light. Then opacity can also be adjusted.
8) The final outcome. When exporting, visibility of the brush tool layers should be turn off.
PROJECT 1B PART 2 EXERCISE 2 (2)
The recoloring process is the same with the previous one. On this exercise, more color palettes detail are used, the masking are also more fine.
