Class Summary

Week 1: Module Information and briefings

The lecturer gives a file 'Framed Ink' about designing illustrations, highlighting compositions.

Week 2: Introduction on pentool (Adobe AI)

Adobe Illustrator tools are introduced during the second week. One of the most important tools is the pentool, which is the first presented in The Berzier Game (https://bezier.method.ac/).

Next, we were given the "Vormator Challenge," where our goal was to construct a character out of the provided shapes without altering (distorting) them.

Week 3: Pathfinder tool (Adobe AI)

The lecturer demonstrated how to create logos using PathfinderTool during the third week of class. It is suggested that we use the tracing approach to create a duplicate of it (template in lower opacity).

Week 4

Process Work

Task 1 : Vormator Challenge - Character Creation (20%)

Assignment: Form a character using the vormators given.

Firstly, sketches are done manually in my personal notes.

The monster on the left was the original design; it was a human monster in its most basic form. Because of  'the drop' shape vormator was provided, i change the main body of the monster. Next, I use the concept of Mini Pekka from Clash Royale to construct the monster.

Mainly the idea was to make the moster with little feet (flagella), but it wasn't the best proportion, it is revised as normal feet alike humans. After the silhouette design is formed, I have the idea to change it into a pig, but that idea was not really applicable.

Coloring is done by creating the color pallete first. The color palette inspiration was obtained from cartoon network characters. Hereby the final outcome of the artwork.

Task 2 : Composition (20%)

1) RESEARCH REFERENCE AND SKETCHING

This week, we were instructed to create characters using the vormmator form that Mr. Hafiz had given us. I then began to come up with ideas and find references for the character I wanted to make.

The composition i used from the 'Framed Ink' was the POV (Point of View)

From the physical sketch, digitalization was made by tracking it using the pen tool and curveture tool. The sketch was cropped and adjusted as a new layer with low opacity.

Feedback

Week 3

Mr. Hafiz gave me feedback on my design and stated it was good, so I may move forward with the digitization process.

Week 5

My sketches are all good, in addition refference of the 'Framed Ink' must be inputed in the sketch.
